What is it? Why would you want it? What about covering important things like keyholes and vents. And why is it better than just painting it?
DipYourCar.com is not very helpful.

Plastidip is a spray on vinyl wrap. And, if done right, is easily removable. It just peels off like the cling-film on new electronics.

So basically if you want to try a new color but might wanna get rid of it in a while? interesting, interesting.

Yep. Depending on the car and color, I've seen shops do it for around $300-500.

300-500 for a whole car? such. a. deal. Must be a pain to remove it from a whole car though?

Easy way to paint designs on your car that can be removed later. It is also a good way to durably paint rims and badges. And as has been mentioned, it is vinyl and can be removed. I've also seen people use it for the sake of protecting their paint.

nah you just grab an edge and peel it off.
They reckon if you prep the surface right you can get it to last 3-5 years.

wow that is awesome. I am going to see about any shops around here that do this that have a good reputation. I definitely not bored with the color of my car yet, but I may some day be.

Plastidip is upwards of 500 for a car and wheels.
Vinyl wraps on their own are 3-5 GRAND and take significantly more time and expertise.
That is why plastidip exists.

I did it to the Wheels on my car, mainly because I didn't know if I'd like them black. Turns out I did, so I clear-coated over it (which is 100% O.K.). If it ever comes off, then I'll properly paint them. It's also a good, cheap way to test out a color change, or even some designs (mask off the design, peel off WHILE STILL WET, once it dries it likes to come off whole).
